Sustainability Practice

The increasing demand of tropical products from Indonesia creates a hope for smallholders farmers and rural processors prosper. Their production can grow up substantially through transparent access on information needed for and from them vis a vis us. Agrorina is enhancing the flow of international demand accessable for the farmers on the needed standard to comply with international regulations.

By assistance and knowledge sharing, Agrorina would work closely with farmers and rural processors to procure the international demand. This initiative will improve the agri-output management control like traceability, effective data for processing unit, and their agriculture management. The main principle of Agrorina activities cannot be separated from an Arabic word‘Qanaah’, which means to be thankful for every single thing that we have, not being sulky, overly demanding, and complaining.

Through the aforementioned model, all parties involved will know how to set the output adequacy without demanding more by taking all harvest at one procurement year. We are mapping and analyzing the farmers and communities which could work together for creating the new model of harvesting. It intends to make multiple harvesting time in one year. For example, previously the pepper commodities has once harvest time at one year period, now it can be divided at four batches of harvesting time. The multiple harvesting can prevent the degradation of soil nutrients and overusage of chemical, as the plant would more resistant to pest and plant diseases.

Likewise for the cashew tree, it should to be mapped conscientiously because the can only beharvested once a year. Then, we collect the data from our partners in the project points especially in East Indonesa. The data will be analyzed to forecast the procurement of raw cashew nut. The result is to share the raw commodities to be exported and distributed to local processors. Back to the Qanaah principle, if we are prioritizing in exporteing raw cashew in huge quantities, it will create the scarcity of raw supply for local processors and just benefitting one party, which are the exporters. Therefore, we should share the portion of raw commodities properly to create sustainable practices.
